This Chasin' team is never ending and the fundraising is fabulous! We are all so dedicated to raise funds for injured steeplechase jockey, Jake Chalfin.
Chasin’ for Chalfin, a group of close friends and family was established to help with fundraising for Jake, who was severely injured when he fell at the Blue Ridge Fall Races in Berryville, Va., on September 18, 2010. As a result of his extensive injuries, Jake is now paralyzed from the chest down and is facing significant long-term expenses in excess of $1 million that is needed for his care.
To date, there have been five fundraisers, Stealin the start, an historical hunt with Mr. Stewart's Cheshire Foxhounds, Proceeds from a race night at the Whip Tavern, an evening of dancing, food, libations and auction at the Green Spring Valley Hunt club in Maryland and a fabulous concert performed by sopranist, Julia chalfin!
The event on July 15th will be held at Brandywine Polo Club, located at 232 Polo Rd. Toughkenamon, PA. Gates open at 1 PM, match starts at 3PM. Tickets are $45 on the day of the event. You can pay at the gate. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy before the BBQ starts at 5:30. Limited number of field side tailgate spots are available for additional $30.
Throughout the day, expect to see vendors, an antique car show, special "Jockey Chukker", featuring local steeplechase jockeys, polo with the professional players of Brandywine Polo Club and a champagne divot stomp. Immediately following the award ceremony, the BBQ, Open Bar and live band will begin. The 50/50 raffle will be announced at 6:30.
